Britten as a boy statue, Lowestoft

Steria Consulting provided structural engineering support for the installation of the ‘Britten as a Boy’ statue, located on the seafront in Lowestoft, the birthplace of Benjamin Britten. The sculpture forms part of the town’s cultural landscape, celebrating Britten’s early life and legacy.

Working in collaboration with PJ Spillings, Steria Consulting liaised closely with the sculptor to assess structural loads and deliver tailored foundation design advice. Careful consideration of the exposed coastal environment ensured a robust and durable solution, resulting in a structure that is both technically sound and visually striking.and liased closely with the sculptor on loads, providing foundation design advice to ensure the structure is as technically sound as it is visually compelling.
